Duck Duck Goose

It was finally moving day for the ducklings who had been living in our garage for weeks. We evicted them from their cozy pack-n-play and ushered them into their new living quarters outside—the Fluffy Butt Hut. Now they have freedom to see the world around them, run around and stretch their legs, and go for a swim anytime they want.
And we get our garage back. Yesssss.
One hour later…
“Mom, guess what they have at Tractor Supply?! Geese!!!” my daughter squealed through the phone.
She and her dad had gone to get chicken feed and apparently found a little extra something that wasn’t on the list. I probably should have shut it down right then. Honestly, I’m not sure why I didn’t. I think my mindset was something like, “Well, what difference does it make at this point? Why the heck not?”
So they brought home three of the most adorable little gray-and-yellow floofs I’ve ever seen in my life.
On the very same day the ducklings moved out, three tiny goslings moved in—Georgie, Honkers, and Tallulah. Fortunately, my procrastination paid off (for once!)—I hadn’t taken down the pack-n-play yet, so it was easy to move the new tenants right in.
And let me tell you, I’m so glad I didn’t put the kibosh on the geese.
The ducklings were cute, for sure. But these guys? Next-level cute. We’re talking Squishmallows-but-real, anime-eyes, heart-melting, serotonin-boosting cute. Like AI-generated cuteness but somehow... fluffier.
And the best part? They actually like being held.
Unlike the ducks who flailed like we were kidnapping them every time we tried to snuggle, these three little sweethearts climb up to your shoulder, nuzzle your neck, and settle in for hugs and pets. I’ve never felt so emotionally supported by poultry.
I never imagined I’d be a goose person.
But life is funny like that. One minute you're reclaiming your garage, and the next, you're standing in it again—heart full, arms full, and realizing there's always room for a little more fluff.
Welcome to the gaggle.
